Indonesia is once again hosting the world level Para badminton championship. Titled FOX'S Indonesia Para Badminton International 2022, the Grade 2 Level 3 tournament in the world badminton federation (BWF) calendar will be held from Tuesday, 23 August 2022 to Sunday, 28 August 2022 at GOR Among Rogo, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Group Brand Head of PT Savoria Kreasi Rasa, Vanessa Ingrid Pamela, said that the implementation of FOX'S Indonesia Para Badminton International 2022 is expected to be a place for badminton athletes to hone their abilities and potential in order to gain achievements that will make Indonesia proud on the world stage.
"Through the FOX'S Indonesia Para Badminton International 2022 championship, we feel proud to be a part of developing the potential and achievements of athletes who are true heroes in the sport. In this tournament, we carry the theme #SparkleYourEnergy with the hope that athletes will be able to show their shining achievements. In addition, we want the fighting spirit of the athletes to be an inspiration in conquering all limitations and challenges as well as providing motivation for others," explained Vanessa in a press conference session which was held virtually, Thursday (11/8).
Not only in the arena of competition, the spirit of #SparkleYourEnergy which reflects the spirit of never giving up and high fighting spirit will also be conveyed through digital campaigns involving influencers.
The implementation of FOX'S Indonesia Para Badminton International 2022 also cannot be separated from the full support of Bakti Sport Djarum Foundation. Yoppy Rosimin as Program Director of Bakti Sport Djarum Foundation said that the event was a step to raise the image and pride of badminton at the international level.
"Badminton is one of the sports that has gained many international achievements. We also want to make them proud as badminton athletes who make the nation proud, especially through quality tournaments such as FOX'S Indonesia Para Badminton International 2022," said Yoppy.
FOX'S Indonesia Para Badminton International 2022 is a much missed world badminton championship. The last time Indonesia hosted this tournament was in 2016 in Solo, Central Java. The Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Rima Ferdianto, expressed his appreciation for the support of FOX'S and Bakti Sport Djarum Foundation in bringing back the world-class badminton tournament to the country. This is because not many companies, especially in the private sector, are involved in organizing disability sports championships.
"It must be admitted, not many companies are willing to sponsor disability sports championships. This is what makes the international badminton championships stop for six years. For that, we appreciate the willingness of FOX'S and also the Bakti Sport Djarum Foundation who are willing to take part in efforts to improve the quality of athletes with disabilities through organizing this tournament," said Rima.
Rima continued, FOX'S Indonesia Para Badminton International 2022 will be a proof for the badminton squad in Indonesia after winning various international titles and also coming out as overall champion in the 2022 ASEAN Para Games. "Our target in Jogja later is the overall champion, the same as the target in the last APG 2022. For that, we will include a number of athletes who have succeeded in gaining achievements in order to secure the winnings later," said Rima.
